I need a new phone. I've been due an upgrade for at least 10 months now and been too lazy to do anything about it
(Well, I've also been wary as right now I'm best sticking with my texts-heavy tariff as that's what I do most, but if I start using my mobile more for business I might not want to be tied to that for 12 months... but I've been using that as a dithering excuse for ages and it'd probably take 12 months for me to make up my mind to change it, so it's not that much of an issue)
Anyway, my phone is now two bleeps away from total demise and so I need to decide on a new one. I don't need any advice on networks (O2 has it's faults but in all I've been very happy with them and most of the people I talk to the most are with them so I'm not switching. Not that I'm going to tell them that when I see what I can blag, of course) But I would appreciate any views on handsets.
I know I want media messaging, as it seems silly not to as it's not exactly going to go away. And a camera, because I am a sheep and swayed by things that I am told are cool by advertisers. But I'd like to know if there's other phone related stuff that people have found useful\useless\bloody annoying\vital\not worth the bother. Or whether there's things that it's worth grabbing now as they're going to become vital before my next upgrade, or aren't worth bothering with now as they're about to become obsolete (it's now well over a year since I worked in the mobiles industry so all my knowlegde is probably pretty much useless)
Also any advice on manufacturers... I know I'm likely to end up sticking with Nokia just out of habbit, but any words of wisdom or warning would be much appreciated.
(By the way, Patrick, would deceased mobiles be an option for Deadtech? Or are they all whisked away far too efficiently these days?)

Might be time for a trip to Carphone Warehouse for a little comparitive pricing so I can go in well armed.
