I am still considering whether to hold a party next Saturday for my 30-and-a-half-th birthday (cos my actual thirtieth was a low key affair, and I really wanted to celebrate out in the open air, which isn't much fun in February) I kind of went off the idea when it looked like August would be solid rain, but now it's behaving again I'm back to wanting a garden party / BBQ. (Yes, I know that the weather will be changeable next week, and posting this will cause it to rain. Quiet you.)
So, please tell me:
1. Would you come?
2. Would you prefer a garden party or a picnic in Roundhay Park? (I don't mind, I just want to be outside...)
3. If it rains, would you come along to some kind of alternative borthday celebration (probably in a local pub, the house isn't very well set up for parties right now...)
My house (and alternative venues) are just a short bus ride from town, will put address and details on a friends only post if it looks like people are interested...

Might you still like to come? Will be planning to get across there for 1pm so we can have many hours bimbling around but still allow people plenty of time if they need to head off to evening stuff...
We might be able to offer a lift across if there's not many people coming but I want to give first reserve for car space to anyone coming in from far far away that may get confused by a simple train journey from Leeds to York ;-)
Feel free to grab mtyy monile number off Sarah if you don't already have it :-)

Will be September or later now, but that might work quite well as the light can be amazing at that time of year... Autumn used to be my favourite photography time for that very reason!

If you make it to Leeds for 11.30 or 12ish, we can get you to York - it's going to be a daytime thing so you can have the option of staying or heading back in the evening (We can sort out crash space for you if needed but it may literally be a space as everything is full of my crap at the minute, even my room - so you'd be welcome to stay if you can put up with that, and equally as welcome to run away!!! if you prefer :-)

2. I have no idea, whatever you choose is cool, I don't know Roundhay park, so I can't say whether it would be a better location than your own back garden or not.
3. Yep. Haven't been out for a drink in ages (stuck in Dorset with younger sibs and mother does that) sounds like fun.
:) - happy birthday and a half (perhaps that should be 'a very merry unbirthday to you'?)

Is it just you or might Sticks and Chrissie come too?
If you're heading across on a train from Manchester, then on most routes you just hang on for an extra stop after Leeds to get to York. We may be able to offer a lift from Leeds to York and back... if it's just you, or just a couple of you then definitely, 3 might be possible but we might have one in the car already... *head spins* Crash space may be problematic this time as my parents have just moved so my house is full of all the junk that used to be in my attic - I'm sure we can squeeze people in if needs be but it will literally be a squeeze, which is why I've made it a daytime thing so people do have the option of heading home later on if they want to get to somewhere they can sleep in comfort!
Feel free to grab my mobile number off Sticks if you don't already have it :-)

Sorry, I want to come (really I do), but having checked, I actually do have stuff happening this w/e (grr!). Sticks and Chrissie have got their niece/nephew(s) (there are definitely plural, but I'm not sure whether boys, girls or one of each) and sticks has managed to get the day off and apparently we're all going to take them into Manchester.
I don't think I've got your mobile number, but I'll get it off sticks later (I think I'm going to see him this eve, but it depends if he turns up to the props meeting or not).
ttyl.

I've never been to a proper "Garden Party", so I should quite prefer that setting.
And, yes, I'd still be willing to attend a rainy-day alternative birthday party :)
Unfortunately, all of the above is moot, since busses don't typically run from Texas to England. [frown]
I do like the idea of a summer birthday party to make up for a winter-y one. My oldest's birthday is right near Christmas, so we've talked about doing his party in the summer so he can have a pool party or something instead of having it overshadowed by Christmas all the time.
I wish you a very happy 30 1/2, and hope that your party is a fabulous success, rain or shine :)

I just wish the weather would make it's mind up - the trouble with even a summer party in the UK is that it can be as wet and miserable as winter, and if you plan in advance then there's no way of knowing what will happen... and if you don't everyone gets booked up elsewhere and the hover buses aren't invented on time ;-)
