Found out tonight that the darkroom will in fact be available on Monday, which was a relief, especially given my disasterous performance today (Get so involved in mountin pictures that I don't realise the session had started half an hour ago, jump in the car and raced down there only to find I've forgotten my negatives, race back to collect them only to struggle for the next hour with a completely illogical enlarger that appears to lighten and darken at whim because it's filter system was knackered) Still, if everything else is done then I just need four decent 12x16 prints on Monday - and if it does all go hideously wrong, I can get away with one and a selection of small pieces.
Now all I have to do is mount (and write and print thoughtful and *interesting* notes about) something in the region of 120 prints. Which scarily I am cracking on with nicely. This no drink at home thing does actually seem to have had a positive effect on my output AND I lost the pounds I put on over the past few weeks in a matter of days. Which means I should probably keep it up.
Bugger.
I also accidentally spent lots of money on a good portfolio and nice paper. However, all the advice I've seen about applying for graphics positions says you need a good quality paper portfolio as well as an online one. Not sure that this means the portfolio *itself* has to be good quality, but they all certainly advise printing on decent presentation paper, and the whole thing is a lot smarted than any of my old folders.
Have a sneaking suspicion that this might end up purely as a photography folder and that I may end up buying an A3 one as well. But then again, I'm itching to work on larger pieces again. And the photography stuff looks so good when it's all properly moughted I'm tempted to let it keep it's own case.
Because of all this have come to the reluctant decision that Winchester will have to be a no-no this weekend. Black Sheep is still a possibility but probably only for a couple of hours, especially as I don't intend to be drinking there either (I may even drive down to make sure...)
