Apparently NTL broke their server so my net access is doing a good old fashioned whore's knickers routine (up, down, frequently nowhere to be seen, and on the occasions there is something there, extremely skimpy with worrying holes in) So if I appear to vanish don't worry, I'll just be swearing at people and inanimate objects in a vain attempt to make broken things work by sheer volume alone.

Sounds about right. my network access was all over the shop last night and I rebooted all the computers, the firewall & the cable modem and then read your post and gave up. Doesnt help that Nim was also trying to nab what little connectivity we had.

This NTL thing is really starting to do my my head in, this is the only thing i can go on. So if you see me lurking around and not saying anything, i am here. I will be just trying to figure out if its my computer not working or NTL being crap.

starting to wonder if you were still interacting with society, plus was starting to get slightly worried!:-) Yup, NTL are being awful. I have a modem somewhere so do have alternative net access (at 33.6kbps - yikes!!).

Also, all of the 6 computers here, with three on win2k, one on win98, and two flavours of Linux, are having the same problems.

On the good side, it can't be as bad as BT:-)
