Finally got a start date at the council... as of 27th August I shall be officially employed *beam* It also means I shall be kicking into gear with regards to freelance work - I kept putting things off as I wasn't sure about balancing benefits and irregular payments, but as soon as I'm setlled in workwise I shall sign up with some agencies and get cracking.
On a work related note, does anyone have any experience of getting flyers printed? I need to get a batch done for Patrick for Infest - I know it's short notice but he needed to make sure health and finance things were in place before proceding. Preferably somewhere in the North (don't mind if it's Sheffield or Manchester or somewhere I need to drive to) that's reasonably cheap and can preferably handle a small print run (in the hundreds or low thousands) I've been told that Matt from Implant had found a good place but I can't find a way to get in touch with him, so if anyone can help please let me know.
Went swimming instead of aquarobics last night as the instructor mysteriously quit after last weeks session... I think we broke him!

It is very very difficult to collect prices if you don't know what you need because you pretty much need to go right around the houses and get a pricelist for everything from everyone, and to be honest not every printer has a huge list handy. They will often wander around with a pained look on their face, tot a few things up on a grubby pad and go "That's the cheapest I can do it for mate". Typically the more professional printers will have a list, but they are also generally more expensive. A lot of places will do a deal on a particular thing for you. If you went, "Ok, I want 2k of A6 2 colour 2 sided, place X said they will do it for £95, how much can you do it for" chances are they will go ooooo, £10 less.
Also important to factor in postage/travel costs. A box of flyers is HEAVY. Sometimes it's worth using a more expensive place that you can visit in person.
The WH flyers are good quality for the stuff they have done for the full colours. But tbh the Mutate flyer quality was shit. It was a two colour spot and they just over printed the black...didn't screen the yellow. The result is about 25% of the flyers have semi washed out black and bits of yellow poking through. Very unprofessional in my opinion just to save a few quid on producing another screen.
