Ho hum...

Now spent two weeks in Huddersfield playing chauffeur to Kris cos his car died for the second weekend in a row on Saturday. (His car is now sat on the street outside his house feeling sorry for itself and unable to move under it's own power, cos it doen't have any) Hopefully he's going to swap it for a nice red micra tonight so I can get back to doing... not much really.

Actually, that's not true. I have done a fair amount of photoshop stuff in the last week with fairly limited resources. And I wrote a review of an incredibly camp film. And on the days I could I've been working on stuff pretty much 9-5 and impressing myself with my ability to be disciplined when I don't have to be.

Unfortunately this has been hampered somewhat by my need to sort out various things involving fans. My poor little car had hopefully the last operation on its fanbelt this week (the silly people at the garage I took it to last had made it too tight and the husky crunching noise was the blades of the alternator fan being slowly crushed to death) and I finally got a cheque back from the previous garage who fitted the wrong belt altogether.

And while last week my boiler wouldn't make hot water cos the fan wasn't working, now when the fan starts up everything esle stops. The nice plumber men are even now running in and out with bits and pieces and expensive expressions (which I'm not too bothered about cos it's down to the landlords to sort out) And I have to be here personally to let them in cos my landlords gave the spare keys to the construction people who are meant to be doing all kinds of fire-safety related door-renovating and lock changing and and generally tearing up floorboards and tearing down ceilings and stuff and were supposed to start at the beginning of May and instantly vanished. On the one hand I don't actually want them to do any work here cos I have a fire escape and a smoke alarm and I've never yet burned to death... but I do wish they would either get it over with or GIVE MY KEYS BACK!

Then once the plumber has gone I have to rush back to Huddersfield to pick up Kris who will be either ecstatic or gloom-ridden depending on how his bus driving test goes (he should pass no problem but it's seriously shitty weather and driving conditions today which won't be helping much)

And then tomorrow I have to be in Warrington to dog sit cos my parents are at a Wedding. On the one hand this means I can actually smoke without feeling guilty. On the other it means yet another Saturday night I'll have to stay in (two weeks ago = still too damaged to move, 1 week ago = car broke down on the way to Leicester and we got stuck in Woodall servioce station for hours when we should have been partying)

And this is my first proper time online for ages cos Kris's broadband connection is refusing to work and ever since he tried to get that set up the dial up one has been sulking too. Which means I haven't been able to do all the searching for courses and \ or jobs I wanted to do this week. And all the emailing people I need to catch up with (I keep forgetting there are non LJ \ Ladybirds people who don't get the news en masse)

Also this week I have been mostly eating carrots and string beans and nochocolate and my jeans are still too tight *pout*

Next week I shall be:

1. Swimming
2. Immersing myself fully in all the Ted Hughes stuff I have in the hope that an essay might actually emerge, but aslo now that the pressure is off cos there's no way I can be ready to start a course in September now I might actually enjoy it
3. Working on the Dead Dave illustrations for Deadbutdreaming (I don't know if he still needs them cos he's probably got someone else to do them by now but I can see exactly what the characters look like and it's the only way to get them out of my head... kind of an artistic exprcism
4. Taking the city life photos for Grimly (ditto)
5. Creating a couple of web pages to practise using HTML before I forget it all again

And I just discovered there IS a to do list on this thing... I knew I hadn't imagined it. Now I just need to convince people that the same is true about the penguins...

Was going to see about the leisure centre in Kirkstall just cos that's technically in walking distance. But if you were going swimming anywhere else and want some company I'd be happy to join you. When isn't really a problem - I was just going to see if they had a ladies only evening or just some time the pool won't be crawling with kids.

Not fair! I have to go swimming on my own at Penyrheol swimming pool which is filthy and the loos smell.

Yeah, well Penyrheol is better than stinky St Helens City Baths on Oystermouth Road. Yes, the ones that got closed down due to cockroaches.

I'll say that again: 'ST HELENS BATHS' - yes that should strike fear into any Swansea citizen.

In St Helens, the signs for the toilets also point to the pool.

Thankfully I never went there.

I watched a Barry Welsh quiz the other night. He had an assistant on there called Sofia Gardens. She was fantastic! Kind of like Cerys Matthews with an attitude.
