Things I should have been doing this lunchtime instead sitting in the sunshine:
  • Rewriting my CV
  • Designing a new portfolio
  • Doing new exciting artwork for my portfolio
  • Setting up sponsorship page for Race for Life
  • Actually doing some training for Race for Life (although that's a bit redundant as there's no way I'll be able to run the bloody thing now)
  • Replacing the paper bit of my driving licence (at one point that was 'finding the paper bit of my driving licence but it's a bit late now)
  • Renewing prescription prepayment certificate and stocking up on medications
  • Shopping for holiday clothes
  • Shopping for veggies in the market
  • Working out where to go and what to see in San Francisco (including where to take my Dad for birthday meal)
  • Writing postcard 'from London' to my extra Nan
  • Writing up London trip
  • Writing. Stuff. In general
  • Making all kind of life-changing decisions
Things I have to do this afternoon instead of sitting in the sunshine:
  • Work
I'm going to go and sulk now. And maybe see if I can hire a flunky to do all the boring stuff...

In other work news NASA replied and thanked me for bringing a broken bit of their website to their attention. From now on I shall be referring to myself as their technical consultant.

Also, may have to write an iPhone/iPad app for work. Should be easy, right?

Also, went to the races (with work) on Wednesday and managed to back a winner in every single race by the simple tactic of betting on nearly everything running. Obviously this means I still ended up losing money overall, but I did get to dance around the place waving winning slips at mpore sensible people who had bet and lost in the more conventional, one-horse-a-race manner. Which is after all the point of racing. Also, in monetary terms consumed far more free food and booze than I actually lost on the horses, so I count that as a win overall.

Oh, and I will be in London on Saturday 19th (and possibly Sunday 20th) June, as work are shipping me down for the award ceremony on the Friday night (and paying for a hotel too) and have kindly bought an open return ticket so I can stay down and play for the weekend. We're going elephant hunting, so they'd better still be there!

That's a lot of free work stuff, isn't it? Still not given me a payrise yet, though. Or a pony.

In order to write apps for ipad/iphone, you'll need a Mac, and a decent knowledge of C I think.......

Macs are not a not problem - we're a design studio, so PCs are shunned and shunted off to internet services (who for some reason seem to like them.) The decent knowledge of C is on my To Do list (but admittedly it's quite a way down it... somewhere below learning to fly a light aircraft and visiting Borneo.) I'm hoping it might be relatively simple; the intention is currently for an app that's not much more than a glorified photo gallery - it's the content that would be unique, rather than the delivery system. So I did hope I might be able to find a template or tutorial or something that would cover most of it? Failing that, I could do with learning enough about building apps to be able to properly brief someone who does know what they're doing with C.

THE ELEPHANTS ARE AMAZING. I was sad that I only had time to meet eight of them when I was in town last month - most of those in a long string along the South Bank rightaround Westminster Bridge. I am so in love with them <3

I saw a few of them last time I was in London but didn't have time for a proper hunt - I am strangely exciting about the prospect of hunting pottery elephants (or whatever they are made of...)

I think they're made of some kind of plastic - there's several different elephant poses. My favourite of the ones I found was the stupidly happy-looking one in Soho Square (which is just off the St Giles Circus end of Oxford St).

Hello new friend! Again.

It's just occurred to me, upon casting my mind back, that you know Sel. I met her on the bus to M'era Luna and she is SO awesome.

Elise :-)

Hello again - NOW it all makes sense who you are :-) And yes, Sel is indeed awesome - she keeps threatening to drag me to M'era Luna and one day I'll give in...
