Definitely feeling more like myself this week.
Ankle is still not right. Obviously. The latest horror story I've had from a friend at work was that her ankle sprain took two years to clear up properly (although she did make it worse by carrying on playing football on it.) Peas and elevation do seem to be helping, and I can nearly walk normally. (And it's very weird learning to walk normaly again - you never realise just how many little weird flexes and balancing points just walking upstairs involves until you have to try to make your bad foot mimic your good one.) Still some stuff I physically can't do, though, which is annoying. May have to experiment with some of the balance games on Wii Fit and see if they help at all.
Finally got a date for physio at the hospital, but it's not until May. Unfortunately I think I'll still be needing it then :-/ Shall just have to see if I can use this as an opportunity to develop the world's strongest ankles. (And maybe ask on the side for some knee-strenghtening exercises to make snowboarding easier...)
Finally got a direct reply from a job application too... and it was a rejection. Oh well. Be careful what you wish for. Not too dejected as it was looking for retail design experience and that's probably my weakest point. Am trying to take it as a sign that other less inapproporiate applications may still be in the system somewhere.
Also figured I ought to try to produce one new portfolio-worthy piece a week. That way i can keep busy (always important in the not-going-crazy stakes) and feel like I'm doing ~something~ more towards finding a new job... and at least that way if I'm still applying in 6 months time it will be with a brand ne portfolio.
However hopefully it won't come to that, as tomorrow will be ramping up the search. I had originally booked a few days off work this week in the hope I might have interviews to fit in (hah!) and ended up keeping tomorrow as leave on the grounds that my ankle would appreciate a four days week. So going to spend the day trying to introduce myself to as many recruitment agencies as possible, getting set up on more job search sites (I've just been going through Design Week so far) and searching for direct vacancies with London firms as well.
Been quite a while since I last had to hard-sell myself, but I am determined to get a good price.
(And if anybody knows of any design jobs going in London, or which are the best recruitment agencies to talk to, I will be eternally grateful for any helpful advice...)
And people have suddenly started noticing weight loss :-) Somewhere between a third and a half of the way there, so still got a way to go, but am definitely feeling more like me than I have in a long time!
