Watched the Grand Prix on Sunday, and god it was rubbish. Luckily , we'd been out for a Mother's Day lunch with my parents* when the race was originally on so had recorded it, meaning we could fast-forward through the boring bits. Which was most of it. I remember when GP meant cars actually overtaking one another. This season they seem to have given up on the concept of 'race' and settled for the option of 'convoy'. I can understand the idea of getting rid of fuel stops to try to get the action out of the pit lane and back on the race track. Unfortunately all it's really done is trade the intriguing battle of wits of fueling strategies for a game of 'who can shave a tenth a second of changing a tyre'. Most of the in-race conversation seemed to be engineers telling the drivers to go SLOWER, because they have so few precious engines that preserving those is more important than, say, racing. Obviously if you have a deep-set fascination for the science of engine stresses and metal fatigue then this is thrilling stuff... but not so much if you just like seeing shiny cars go stupidly fast in an battle of skill and speed. On the plus side, at leasy when watching everything on fast forward we could sing along with the Benny Hill music.

Kris has managed to mash his foot up quite badly. Obviously this is bad and worrisome, but it is also completely deserved. For some reason he thought it was a good idea to buy the Star Wars prequels. Naturally I disowned him, at this point he decided to tempt fate and wind me up by claiming that they actually had some kind of artistic merit, and when that didn;t work, making jokes about them being superior to the originals. While (sensibly) running away fast, he smacked full pelt into an iron bedstead. As the good and caring housemate-plus-thingy that I am, I offered sympathy and witch-hazel, but as I was compelled to point out: quickest instant karma EVER! He's now gradually recovering, which is good, as it means he'll soon be well enough that I can legitimately mercilessly take the piss. He hasn't yet let me burn the DVDs, though.

Work, having dropped to slow during the snow and building back up to normal-busy in February has gone super-mega-nuclear-busy. I don't think I've ever known it this bad. For me personally it's notquite as bad as it's been during some of the major illustration jobs (althogh we're still getting a lot of illustration work in) but I've never know a time when everyone in the studio has been so flat out, worn out and pissed off. including the bossman and the sales team, and our usually unflappable production manager. Am doubly tired as I'm determined not to let overtime stop me writing/socialising/living this time round, hence the determination to write up London properly, and a possible trip to the Armouries this weekend (Leeds has culture too! And shiny stabby things...)

*I feel honour bound to point out that while the 'we' does include Kris, he was there as substitute son (my brother having relocated to America) NOT potential son-in-law!

I have to work out how best to phrase the question first, as one does not automatically equal the other, worst luck!
