Help!

My parents are coming for a visit in a few weeks time and want to go out for a meal. I need to find a restaurant in Leeds, preferably city centre, that is:

• Posh enough to feel like a nice evening out
• Not so posh that you feel you ought to be dressed up to the nines to be there
• Has some kind of 'Kris food' on the menu (i.e. big chunks of meat or burgers)
• Isn't predominantly a fish restaurant
• Isn't Indian, Mexican or anywhere where everything is spicy
• Isn't too noisy
• Will take bookings

So, any suggestions? I don't dine out that often so my experience of Leeds restaurants is limited...

Gourmet burger kitchen is a good start. Not sure it's quite "posh enough". They don't take bookings but you're unlikely to have issues.

Not sure it's ideal for my parents, but I'll definitely have to take Kris there sometime :-)

Browns on the headrow is great. Nice food, not overly expensive and does a lovely burger - as well as steak, pasta, various veggie options. They also do wonderful cocktails.

Browns was my first choice! Unfortunately they don't take bookings for small groups, and being that close to Christmas my parents really wanted to book somewhere (my Dad is diabetic so we can't do long waits for a table or wandering round town looking for somewhere when he needs to eat...)

The Mill Race is still open, as i live just up the road from it. The food is absolutely delicious and it's also organic too.

How about Sam's Chop House - corner of Greek Street/East Parade side. They do big chunks of meat, burgers, it's not too posh but it is great food - I've never been but everybody who has highly recommends it.

That's actually where we ended up booking - Mum found it in the end cos she's been to the Manchester on with my brother!

Maxi's is good, fulfils criteria and has english dishes (e.g. steak) which should solve the "big hunks of meat" problem..
