My web post appears to be completely deceased.

Anyone fancy recommending somewhere relatively cheap and reliable? Or even a website that provides a decent comparison of rates and features and stuff between different hosts?

Ideally, I need somewhere that supports PHP & preferably SQL as well, isn't ridiculously stingy when it comes to bandwidth (my site is fairly small and not exactly frequently visited but as it's a portfolio site it does have a lot of images), where I can host multiple domains on a basic package, and where you get multiple email accounts for each domain. Decent spam filter would be a bonus but I can live without.

Most of all though I need as little downtime as possible and somewhere with decent ~human~ support if things do go wrong. So if anyone can personally recommend somewhere that has served them well, it would be much appreciated...

I've found dataflame to be quite good, and they have online live customer support (which has generally been pretty good).

I've been told many good things about Black Cat Networks, run by a friend-of-a-friend, but still small and treat customers well. But they cost more.

I use these guys... http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/

There's live support if you need it (I've used it and they were very helpful). They work out VASTLY cheaper than my old hosts (1and1) and so far I've had no downtime at all (been with them since last October).

Ooh, might be worth me keeping an eye on mine then, as all of yours were down completely when I checked last night. (I was going to reply to your chaoticzee post about BTV saying that the link wouldn't work because the Gog site was down but of course I couldn't cos chaoticzee wasn't there!)

I'm still moving elsewhere though - I'm updating my site soon to et more illustration and photography up there so I need it live all the time for clients to browse - if it's a new one I may only get one shot to impress them.

Good luck with getting a reply - Kris has been emailing for weeks as he had Lyk-online.org registered with them and when that expired it took some of the inner workings of Gogpromotions with it so he desperately needed to get it sorted but he's had nothing at all, even when he tried the messenger contact, and even phoning!

I use crystaltech.com in the states, they're tip top for .net stuff, they do PHP as well. The exchange rate at the moment makes it most cheap, and if you sign up for 12 months in one go, they often add an extra 6 months for free.

Failing that [livejournal.com profile] enki has a friend who ofers reasonably priced web hosting also.

Owen has his own server and is looking for clients. It's cheap (will have to ask him how much). Let me know if interested.
