Finally! After two long years of speechifying, praising, pleading, emotional blackmailing and attempting to horribly slur all rivals, my nominated book was picked to be our Book Club book this month! (It's Geek Love by Katherine Dunn and I highly recommend it.
Yesterday I also parted with a pint (nearly an armful!) of precious life juice. It's the first time I've given blood since I was a student and I got side-tracked by a series of piercings that kpet me off the register for 6 months at a time. Hopefully now I'll get back in the habit of donating on a regular basis. I was mildly disappointed to find that the world didn't go delightfully trippy when I sat up off the couch, and it didn't leave me with the ability to get drunk off half a glass of wine. But still... just remember, if you get into an accident, you may end up with me in your veins... world domination, one circulatory system at a time!
Am back into full-on illustrator mode at work after lots of scrappy jobs over Christmas and really enjoying the current project, as it involves inventing lots of fantasy industrial architecture and nebulously arcane machinery. (Okay, it's a bit more mundane than that in reality, but that's the job description in my mind and I may play with some of the wilder ideas as inspiration for some more arty drawings at home.)
Am currently planning a couple of trips dahn sarf, for weddings and galleries and portfolios and fun. Unfortunately the main one clashes with Whitby so many of the people I'd hope to catch up with will probably be at the wrong end of the country, but hopefully there's be a few familiar faces around. Will post on Monday with more detailed plans once some stuff is booked...
