I was going to write about work but... it's busy, it's bearable, meh.

I was going to write about writing, but I'm at too vague a point right now - about to start the poetry course exercises but don't know what they are yet, and the rest of my plans and schemes are too nebulous to lay out.

I was going to write about twitter and social networks, but that's SO yesterday's news.

So instead I am going to ask advice about costumes.

1. I need sci-fi related costume ideas for Wendyhouse on Saturday
Plan A is improvise something vaguely alien in a B movie kind of way, using face paints, toy ray guns, silver scarves and lots and lots of glitter.

Plan B is dress as a pirate. (Plan B is always dress as a pirate.) Possibly a space pirate. With glitter.

Plan C is... I don't know. Any ideas? Ideally I was trying to think of something character-based, as then I could repeat it for DragonCon, which leads on to...

2. I need some ideas for Dragon*Con costumes
Any costume has to be something I can make out of very light fabrics (it's ridiculously hot there), something I can pack in a suitcase, and something that doesn't show any flesh I'm not happy about! Have two trains of thought on this one:

a. Character costumes. Anything fantasy or Sci-Fi related, but have to be appropriate to tall curvy lady. (Unless it can somehow be made to ~work~ in a wildly inappropriate way.) Can be silly, but don't want to look stupid. Also not something that will draw the wrath of an entire convention of geeks down upon me. (If it causes geek-worship it's a bonus!) Ideally want something I can make look sexy. Preferably a character from something I know and like, but has to be someone I've at least heard of. I'm sure there must be plenty out there but am drawing a complete blank... help?

b. Crossover costumes. A lot of the best costumes are crossovers (so for example, a steampunk Batman). I'm currently thinking a ninja-something could be good (Ninjas wear black. I have a lot of black clothing. This makes life simple. Simple is good.) Current ideas are a ninja-fairygodmother and a ninja-pirate, but I am trying to think up more.

3. Would be an added bonus if any of the above involved wings
My black wings (see pic) are now on their last legs, but I have purple, blue or red feathers ready to make more, I just need to motivation. Or was considering making some half-fabric/half moulded dragon ones (The trick will be making them ~look~ huge, but actually site very close to the body so they don't get in anyone's way.) Or even embracing my inner 7-year-old (who lives pretty near the surface, to be honest) and making and painting butterfly wings. With glitter. Any opinions?

Am also contemplating doing odd things to my hair again. Want to get the bleach streaks done again (they're fine streaks that build up more and more along the length of my hair, so the brighter red bits look kind of like flames coming up from the ends, but they're mostly outgrown now) but I might save that for D*Con. Also tempted to switch back to pinky-red from red-red for a while, or even purple. And considering getting the pale blue streaks put back in. Decisions, decisions...

So yes, for a change I decided to write about me ;-) but only to ask for your most valuable, insightful opinions!
