I managed to miss every single one of the social type things happening over the weekend, by dint of being very very tired and full of snuffles.

I did however manage to catch up completely on sleep, more sleep, and all the sleep in the world after my epic fortnight of overtiming.

Although I may have undone some of that rest when I decided on Sunday evening that I had to have ~something~ to show for the weekend, and so cut the huge hedge at the back of the house. Which is quite a lot taller than me so I had to jump up and down and wave the hedge-trimmer around above my head quite a lot. Luckily I didn't drop it. But I do now have blistered fingers and aching arms and groaning back.

(I also got deluged with leaves, pollen, insects and large branches for my trouble. Although this did lead to taking a stronger hayfever tablet and realising that my sniffles were probably worse-than-usual allergy rather than lurgy.)

I am now back in a nice, safe air-conditioned office far from hedges or garden equipment of any kind. Although there are random cherries. (One of my nice work colleagues has a tree with a ridiculously bumper crop, and so is forcefeeding cherries to everyone that passes in the hope that she might at some stage be able to see her lawn again.)

I really must learn to get better at doing nothing at weekends. I always feel a complete failure if I fail to do at least 20 things of my ongoing List of Doom. I supposed I could always add things like "lie in the sun", "read a book" and "drink beer" to the list, but that really would take all the fun out of them... and I'd only end up feeling even more guilty if I failed to do them!

Anyway, hopefully all the people who have had parties and birthdayness and events of all kinds at the weekend had great fun :-)
